Since 1996, we have proudly built a business dedicated to exceeding industry standards and defying the status quo. Founded by Nick Martin who saw a clear potential in the market for U.S. made, precious body piercing jewelry, BVLA’s focus has always been on quality and design.

With over 3,000 original designs in our collection and growing, we are innovators at heart. BVLA jewelry is unrivaled - continuously evolving to meet the needs and desires of both piercers on a technical level, and our customers by all measures.

We’re close friends and collaborators with piercing artists around the world, making jewelry that brings their vision to life while placing the health and wellness of the wearer at the forefront by choosing premium metals and considering the human anatomy with every design.

With over 150 unique gemstone choices in many shapes and sizes, 7 different precious metals including platinum and the ability to bring custom designs to life, we pride ourselves on the quality of work that takes place in our owned and operated creative studios and factories.

Today, each piece is designed, handmade and polished with love in Los Angeles, California. Here we can maintain an expert level of craftsmanship while guaranteeing that BVLA jewelry is the very highest quality in the world. So much so that every piece comes with a guarantee against manufacturing defects for life.

In 2020 we launched the BVLA Future Stars Apprentice program, allowing us to nurture and develop under-resourced young adults in achieving their dreams of learning the craft of fine jewelry design and manufacturing.

THE FOUNDER

After growing up outside London without many opportunities, BVLA founder Nick Martin immigrated to America as a teenager and soon found himself in California, fully enamored with the gorgeous landscape.

After a motorcycle accident took him out of his day job, he fell back on the skills he’d honed during a stint at a jewelry shop in Providence, RI—and began crafting pieces for a similar audience (read: experimental) out of gold.

Nick took his designs up and down the coast, convincing piercing and body jewelry shops to trade up to ethically-sourced, locally-made gold and gemstone pieces. Inspired by the beauty of California and the sense of fearlessness he maintained, BVLA was born. As both demand and breadth of offerings grew, it became the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of fine body jewelry. Today, BVLA—helmed by Nick and his wife, Kerry—employs over 100 people in four Los Angeles locations, with a commitment to equitable pay and benefits.
